Bayern Munich and Arsenal draw 2-2 in Champions League clash

Bayern Munich and Arsenal finished level at 2-2 at the Allianz Arena, with Declan Rice scoring late to prevent Vincent Kompany’s team from taking all three points. Harry Kane had given the German hosts the lead in the second half, but Arsenal responded to earn a point in an exciting Champions League fixture.

Eberechi Eze scored first for the visitors before Alphonso Davies equalised for Bayern. Kane then scored from the penalty spot to complete the comeback, but Rice salvaged a draw for Arsenal with a strong finish in the final minutes.

Following the result, Arsenal are seventh in the Champions League table with seven points from a possible nine, while Bayern are 14th, outside the top eight of the competition.

Arsenal go ahead through Eze before Bayern hit back

The first 20 minutes offered few clear chances, though Bayern nearly broke the deadlock when Alphonso Davies advanced down the left and pulled the ball back for Saibari. His pass found Serge Gnabry in a good position, but David Raya made an excellent save to deny the German’s first-time shot.

Arsenal capitalised on their chance in the 25th minute. Martin Ødegaard found Eze behind the Bayern defence, and the forward finished calmly into the far corner past Manuel Neuer to put the visitors ahead.

The Gunners almost doubled their advantage four minutes later when Ødegaard sent a corner to Bruno Guimarães at the far post. Unmarked, the Brazilian tried a volley but could not direct his effort on target.

Bayern finally responded after Kane collected the ball in midfield and played a precise pass into Davies’ path. The full-back stayed composed in front of goal, slotting past Raya in the 35th minute to level the score at 1-1.

Harry Kane’s penalty gives Bayern Munich the lead

Arsenal began the second half with another dangerous set-piece opportunity. Rice’s corner found Ezri Konsa, who headed the ball down towards goal, but Neuer reacted brilliantly to stop the visitors from regaining the lead.

Bayern threatened immediately at the other end. Gnabry sent a dangerous cross towards Dayot Upamecano at the back post, where the defender produced a powerful header. Raya responded with an acrobatic save to keep the score level.

The key moment came just before the hour mark. Kane saw his effort from inside the penalty area blocked, but the referee awarded Bayern a penalty after deciding that Jurrien Timber had handled the ball while sliding in to challenge.

Kane stepped up and confidently sent his spot-kick past Raya, putting Kompany’s team 2-1 ahead. The former Tottenham striker had now scored against his old rivals, leaving Arsenal with a deficit to overturn in the closing stages.

Declan Rice rescues Arsenal with late equaliser

With 10 minutes of normal time remaining, Arsenal increased their efforts to find another goal, while Bayern tried to protect their advantage. The home defence initially held firm, but the visitors eventually found a way through.

Victor Gyökeres provided the pass that sent Rice through on goal, and the midfielder made no mistake with a powerful finish into the roof of the net. His late strike restored parity at 2-2 and denied Bayern what had looked like a valuable home victory.

Arsenal pushed again before the final whistle, with Rice delivering another corner that tested the Bayern defence. However, the hosts held their ground, and neither side could find a decisive third goal.

The draw leaves both teams with work to do in the Champions League league phase. Arsenal occupy seventh place with seven points from nine available, while Bayern sit 14th after surrendering their lead in the closing minutes.
