Arsenal defeat Nottingham Forest with Madueke scoring the winning goal

Arsenal achieved a slim win against Nottingham Forest courtesy of Noni Madueke’s goal in the second half, continuing their impressive beginning to the Premier League campaign. The reigning champions earned their sixth league triumph in seven games, even though they found it difficult to generate clear opportunities against a resolute home defense.

The Gunners were at risk of losing points for the first time this season following a lackluster first 45 minutes during which neither team produced a shot on target. Nevertheless, Madueke’s entrance at the interval proved crucial, as his attempt took a deflection off Daniel Munoz before reaching the net.

Arsenal stay second in the Premier League standings, three points adrift of leaders Manchester City, while Forest remain in pursuit of their first home league win this season.

Noni Madueke’s strike gives Arsenal the win

The opening half provided minimal attacking danger from both sides, representing only the second Premier League fixture this season in which neither team managed a shot on target. The earlier instance also featured Arsenal, who defeated Aston Villa 1-0 on 31 August courtesy of a second-half goal from Bukayo Saka.

Mikel Arteta made an adjustment at halftime, removing Eberechi Eze, who was making his first Premier League start this season, and introducing Madueke. The substitute delivered the decisive moment, with his shot deflecting off Munoz and defeating the Forest goalkeeper.

The goal arrived after the hosts had begun the second half more strongly, generating hopes of an upset against the defending champions. Instead, Arsenal discovered a method to claim all three points despite not producing a convincing attacking display.

The outcome highlighted the significance of Arsenal’s squad depth. The Gunners have now netted three Premier League goals via substitutes this season, with only Ipswich Town having more, with four.

Nottingham Forest battle to score at home

Forest head coach Oliver Glasner joined the club in the summer following a successful period with Crystal Palace, where he guided the Eagles to FA Cup and UEFA Conference League victories. However, his initial days at the City Ground have not proceeded as intended.

Forest have managed just one Premier League win thus far, a 2-1 triumph away at Aston Villa, and their home performances are turning into an increasing worry. Confronting Arsenal was always going to be a tough test, but the hosts could not convert their encouraging moments into a result.

Their finishing proved especially expensive. Forest recorded 14 shots against the Gunners, but only two were on target, underlining their struggles in converting attacking chances.

The loss also prolonged Forest’s wait for a first home league goal this season, as they have now failed to score in all four of their home Premier League fixtures. Arsenal, in the meantime, departed Nottingham with another three points in their title defense.
