Arsenal have announced a temporary adjustment to Jurrien Timber’s pre-season schedule. The defender has returned to London from the club’s training camp in Spain as part of his recovery from a groin issue.
The Dutch international is expected to travel back to Spain once the current stage of his rehabilitation is complete. Sources indicate that this visit is part of his planned recovery program and is not related to any deterioration in his condition.
Jurrien Timber injury update and recovery plan
Timber missed the final part of last season due to a groin problem that also kept him out of the World Cup. Earlier, he had spent two months sidelined with an ankle injury.
Despite these fitness challenges, he recovered in time to play in Arsenal’s Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain. His recent return to London has been described as a routine part of his rehabilitation, with expectations that he will soon rejoin the team in Spain.
Arsenal’s training camp continues without first-choice right-back
The 24-year-old established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice right-back last season, making 30 Premier League appearances as the Gunners secured the league title.
Timber initially joined Arsenal from Ajax in July 2023 for an initial fee of £34 million. His first season at the club was heavily disrupted after he suffered an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury, causing him to miss most of the campaign.
Arsenal fixtures as Timber targets return
Arsenal are preparing for the new season with two major fixtures ahead. They will face Manchester City in the Community Shield on 16 August before starting the defense of their Premier League title against promoted Coventry City on 21 August.
The club expects Timber to return to Spain and continue working with the squad as he progresses through the next phase of his recovery.
