Juventus have secured a temporary deal with Newcastle United that will see Nick Woltemade move to Turin for the remainder of the campaign, with the Serie A side acting swiftly ahead of the upcoming deadline.
The 24-year-old striker was the subject of interest from multiple European outfits, but Juventus have emerged victorious in the pursuit after finalising a £3.5m loan arrangement. The agreement does not include a permanent purchase clause, and Woltemade is set to fly out for his physical evaluation.
Juventus target Nick Woltemade
Woltemade arrived at Newcastle from Stuttgart in August 2025, becoming the club’s most expensive acquisition at £69m. In spite of that hefty price tag, the forward has struggled to nail down a consistent starting role under head coach Matthias Jaissle.
He has featured in the starting eleven only once across Jaissle’s initial three fixtures, though Woltemade did make a noticeable contribution as a substitute in Newcastle’s latest outing. He entered the match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and set up Yoane Wissa’s goal during a 2-0 win.
Juventus recognised the striker position as a key area needing reinforcement, especially with Jonathan David tipped to join Atletico Madrid on loan. The Italian club had also looked into a potential move for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee.
Newcastle sanction loan move
The talks regarding Zirkzee did not ultimately result in a switch to Fiorentina, while Juventus kept exploring alternatives before settling on Woltemade as their preferred choice.
The Turin-based side view Woltemade as a more suitable option for their tactical setup and were equally drawn to the financial structure of the arrangement. The loan fee stands at £3.5m, and unlike the Zirkzee proposal, there is no mandatory purchase clause attached.
That distinction proved crucial for Juventus, given that Manchester United insisted on an obligation-to-buy condition as part of any agreement involving Zirkzee.
Nick Woltemade heading for Juventus medical
Woltemade is now expected to make his way to Turin to undergo the necessary medical checks before completing his move to Juventus. The deal will keep him in Serie A for the season, with no option for the Italian club to make the transfer permanent.
Newcastle’s willingness to approve the loan has also been tied to their ongoing pursuit of Lille winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo. The Magpies’ interest in that attacker could help facilitate Woltemade’s exit.
Fernandez-Pardo arrived in the north east on Monday evening to finalise a transfer that could reach £55m, potentially clearing the way for Woltemade to start his temporary chapter in Italy.
