The prolonged transfer story involving Bruno Guimaraes seems to be nearing its end, as Arsenal and Newcastle have settled on a transfer fee after opening direct talks between the clubs.
The move has not yet been formally confirmed by either side, but Newcastle officials have signaled that a deal is effectively done. Arsenal were believed to be hoping to pay a lower amount for the 28-year-old midfielder.

Newcastle chief executive David Hopkinson indicated that the negotiations saw both clubs carefully weighing the financial aspects of the deal. He stated that the final figure met Newcastle’s requirements and underscored the importance of the transfer given the player’s age and role.
Hopkinson also expressed that Newcastle believes Arsenal is getting a top-class talent, calling Guimaraes a “remarkable player and individual.”

While the transfer is still pending official confirmation, Hopkinson’s remarks strongly suggested that an agreement has been struck. He said the terms worked well for both Newcastle and Arsenal.

Wilson explained that Guimaraes’ wish to move became a key factor in Newcastle’s decision-making once the financial terms reached a certain level. However, he emphasized that the player’s request did not force the club into selling.
