Aston Villa has reached an agreement with West Ham for the transfer of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the defender set to move to the Midlands on an initial loan.
The deal includes an obligation to buy at the end of the season. The 28-year-old has been granted permission to travel for a medical, although the precise financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka set to join Aston Villa
Wan-Bissaka has missed West Ham’s opening two Championship matches of the season as negotiations over his future continued.
The Hammers had previously been seeking a £25m fee from clubs interested in signing the DR Congo international, but Villa has now agreed to a different structure for the transfer.
The right-back is expected to complete his medical in the Midlands before the move can progress further.
West Ham transfer business continues
West Ham have already made two major sales this summer, with Mateus Fernandes joining Tottenham for £85m and Crysencio Summerville moving on for £60m.
Captain Jarrod Bowen, however, has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract.
The Wan-Bissaka deal adds another significant change to West Ham’s squad after a busy period in the transfer market.
Aston Villa reshapes squad for new season
Villa have also been active in the market, with their biggest outgoing seeing Morgan Rogers join Chelsea for £117m.
After taking sales into account, Villa currently has the lowest net spend in the Premier League at around £110m.
The club have strengthened their squad with midfielders Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes, while Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has arrived on loan with an obligation to buy. Highly rated young centre-back Modou Keba Cisse has also been added.
Villa prepares for the Premier League and Champions League

The club will also compete in the Champions League after finishing fourth and winning the Europa League under Unai Emery last season.
