Wolves kicked off their campaign in the second division with a 2-2 stalemate against Blackburn Rovers, marking their first fixture outside the top flight since 2018.
The home side struck first, but the visitors flipped the script after the break. With time running out, Raul Jimenez stepped up after a three-year absence and converted from the spot to snatch a share of the spoils.
Wolves strike early, Blackburn respond
Wasting no time, Wolves broke the deadlock in the 18th minute. Fer Lopez sliced through the Blackburn backline, and Marshall Munetsi kept his cool to slot past Balazs Toth for the opener.
Blackburn hit back nine minutes later when Ryoya Morishita whipped in a cross from the flank. Sean McLoughlin rose highest and powered a header home to level things at 1-1.
The visitors turned the match around shortly after the interval. Dapo Afolayan delivered another dangerous ball from the right, and Andri Gudjohnsen tapped in from close range to give Blackburn the lead.

The Mexican forward, back after a three-season stint away, quickly became the focal point of the attack and played a key role in the late drama.
Deep into stoppage time, the referee pointed to the spot after Ryan Alebiosu was penalized for handling the ball inside his own box.

Jimenez took charge of the penalty and sent Toth the wrong way with a composed finish, making it 2-2.
The late strike spared Wolves from defeat in their first second-tier outing in years. It also handed Jimenez a memorable homecoming after his long absence.
