Endrick inspires Brazil to victory in final World Cup rehearsal

Brazil completed its preparations for the 2026 World Cup with a 2-1 triumph over Egypt in Cleveland, United States. The result followed a 6-2 success against Panama, allowing Carlo Ancelotti’s side to head into the competition on the back of consecutive victories.

The match also brought fresh concerns for the coaching staff. During the first half, right-back Wesley picked up an injury and was forced to leave the field, creating uncertainty just days before the start of the tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

With the game still in progress, Ancelotti responded decisively after the interval, making eight substitutions at the same time as he looked to change the flow of the contest.

Endrick makes immediate impact from the bench

Among the alterations, the introduction of Endrick in place of Igor Thiago proved especially influential. The young forward required only six minutes after entering the match to restore Brazil’s advantage.

The decisive moment came after Brazil’s aggressive pressure disrupted Egypt’s attempt to build from the back. Raphinha carried the ball down the left flank and delivered a low pass across the area, where Endrick met it for the first time and found the net.

That strike eased the pressure on the South American side and helped them take control of the remainder of the encounter. Following the goal, the team managed the match more comfortably and prevented Egypt from creating sustained momentum.

Brazil controls the closing stages

The Brazilian defence and goalkeeper Weverton were rarely tested during the second half. Even with Mohamed Salah featuring for Egypt after the break, the opposition found it difficult to trouble the goalkeeper.

At the other end of the pitch, Brazil was unable to add another goal despite searching for a larger margin of victory. The team created little in attack after moving ahead and instead focused on preserving its lead.

Once the goal celebrations ended, Endrick shared a memorable moment with his coach, receiving both an embrace and a kiss on the cheek from Ancelotti on the touchline.

Focus turns to Group C campaign

With the warm-up schedule now complete, Brazil can concentrate fully on the World Cup. Their pursuit of a sixth title begins on June 13 against Morocco in New Jersey.

The second group-stage fixture is scheduled for June 19, when Brazil will face Haiti in Philadelphia. The team’s final Group C assignment comes on June 24 against Scotland in Miami.

After closing their preparations with victories over Panama and Egypt, the Brazilians head into the tournament carrying positive momentum and confidence ahead of the opening match.
