Barcelona’s clash with Preston North End called off prior to kickoff

Barcelona’s summer schedule has hit a snag as their planned exhibition match against Preston North End was scrapped at the final moment. The fixture was set to take place on Monday, yet it will not proceed as originally intended.

Hansi Flick’s squad had already completed their opening warm-up game in front of fans on Friday, when they headed to England and suffered a loss to Birmingham City via a penalty shootout after their training camp.

Barcelona’s match with Preston North End falls through

Barcelona were gearing up to face Championship outfit Preston North End in their subsequent warm-up fixture following the encounter with Birmingham City.

Yet, on the day before the game, Hansi Flick and his players were told that the friendly was no longer happening.

Reports from Mundo Deportivo indicate the cancellation stemmed from Preston lacking enough available players, which would have forced them to rely heavily on numerous Under-21 squad members.

This cancellation has thrown Barcelona’s pre-season calendar into a state of flux.

In place of the abandoned friendly, Hansi Flick’s group will conduct a practice session on Monday that was not initially included in the schedule.

This extra training session will take the spot of the intended match as the team continues readying itself for the upcoming campaign.
