Díaz’s hat-trick gives Bayern the lead against Hoffenheim

Bayern Munich asserted control from the outset at the Allianz Arena, benefiting from a major turning point inside the opening quarter-hour. Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma was dismissed in the 17th minute after bringing down Luis Díaz inside the area. Harry Kane stepped up and dispatched the resulting spot-kick with authority to put the hosts ahead.

Although operating with a numerical disadvantage, Hoffenheim refused to collapse. Their persistence was rewarded midway through the first half when Manuel Neuer’s attempted distribution was cut out by Fisnik Asllani, who squared the ball for Andrej Kramarić to convert and level the score in the 35th minute.

Bayern strike back before the interval

The Bavarians quickly reasserted themselves before the break. Díaz was again central to the action as Vladimir Coufal fouled him inside the penalty area, allowing Kane to restore Bayern’s advantage from twelve yards with his second successful penalty of the evening.

Momentum stayed firmly with the home side. Just before halftime, Kane drove forward on the counter and slipped a pass into Díaz’s path, with the winger finishing clinically past Oliver Baumann to stretch the lead heading into the interval.

After the restart, Kane pushed for a treble of his own but was repeatedly thwarted by Baumann, who produced an excellent save to deny a close-range header in the 50th minute and later watched another effort rebound off the crossbar.

Bayern added a fourth goal shortly after the hour mark when Michael Olise supplied an accurate delivery that Díaz converted to cap off a flowing attacking move. The Colombian forward later sealed his three-goal performance with a composed strike into the far corner late in the contest.

The emphatic 5–1 result re-establishes Bayern’s six-point cushion over Borussia Dortmund at the summit of the Bundesliga standings, while Hoffenheim stay in third despite the heavy defeat.
