Brentford forward Igor Thiago continued his prolific form, scoring twice in the closing stages to push his season total to 11 goals in 13 appearances as his side handed Burnley a fourth consecutive loss. The match remained scoreless until the final 10 minutes, when the Brazilian broke the deadlock from the spot. Burnley responded quickly with a penalty of their own, converted by Zian Flemming, but Thiago restored the advantage almost immediately before Dango Ouattara added a stoppage-time finish to wrap up the win.
Second-half drama after tight opening period
Brentford controlled the early tempo, with Thiago lifting an effort over the bar following a cutback from Mikkel Damsgaard, who himself threatened moments later. Burnley struggled to create chances and managed just one meaningful attempt before halftime, with Flemming forcing Caoimhin Kelleher into an athletic stop near the interval.
After the restart, Thiago saw a finish ruled out for offside, while Michael Kayode’s header flashed past the post. As frustration began to build for Keith Andrews’ team, Axel Tuanzebe brought down Ouattara inside the area, giving Thiago the opportunity to convert from the spot — a welcome moment after his miss at Brighton the previous weekend.
Bees move up the table with late surge
Burnley briefly drew level when Kayode conceded a penalty moments later, allowing Flemming to notch his fourth goal in five outings. The response was short-lived, though, as Thiago pounced from close range after Jordan Henderson’s delivery unsettled the visiting defence.
In added time, Ouattara capped the evening with a precise finish to secure the points. The result lifted Brentford to eighth place, sitting on 19 points from 13 league matches.
