Bukayo Saka was delighted to finally be on the right side of late drama as Arsenal edged Wolves 2–1 in a thrilling victory, giving Gooners a moment of sweet relief after recent heartbreaks.
Saka was instrumental in both goals despite Wolves players getting the final touches, with his wicked corners forcing Sam Johnstone into an own goal before another teasing delivery provoked Yerson Mosquera to head past his own keeper in the 94th minute, sparking Gooners celebrations.
Arsenal were dragged into late drama when Tolu Arokodare struck in stoppage time, but Bukayo Saka praised his teammates for refusing to accept defeat and pushing again to snatch a crucial win for the Gooners.
After the game, Bukayo Saka said, “It was an amazing feeling, to be fair. I didn’t know why Gabby wasn’t celebrating; I thought he scored, but I think it was an own goal. Still, it was an amazing feeling to win in the last minute. It’s been us that have conceded in the last minute on a few occasions this season, so tonight it’s nice that we’re on the other side of it.”
“That shows the character that we have and that we’re not going to give up to the end. Also, we’re at the Emirates, and we need to make teams understand that coming here is going to be tough. I think we’ve shown that this season, and we showed that again tonight.”
“Obviously I’m happy with the three points, but a bit disappointed with how we played and how the outcome was almost us dropping points, but we didn’t, so let’s take the points and move forward.”
After such a breathless finale, Gooners will welcome a rare seven-day break as Arsenal gets the chance to recover and regroup before turning attention to the upcoming trip to Everton.
Bukayo added, “It’s going to be nice; it’s been a really, really busy schedule. Credit to all the boys and the staff because we’ve been so intense, but we’ve been on it, and we’ve had some amazing results.”
“It’s nice that we have a bit of a break, but it’s not time to relax; it’s just a time to reset a bit and then go again next week in the training sessions and be ready for Everton.”
