Mbappe double keeps Real Madrid perfect in La Liga

Real Madrid maintained their outstanding opening to the La Liga campaign with another convincing result, overcoming Levante to secure a sixth consecutive victory. The win stretched their lead at the summit to five points ahead of Barcelona.

Xabi Alonso, still in the early days of his tenure, matched the club’s second-best managerial start in league history. He now sits just one win away from Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s record of seven straight triumphs in 2005. The upcoming city clash with Atletico Madrid offers him the chance to equal that milestone.

Vinicius brilliance and Mastantuono breakthrough

The contest began with Vinicius Jr providing the spark. From a tight angle, the Brazilian forward guided the ball into the far corner with the outside of his boot, handing Madrid the initial advantage.

Not long after, Vinicius shifted from scorer to creator. His sweeping diagonal ball found Franco Mastantuono, who struck cleanly into the top corner to double the margin. The Argentine teenager’s finish marked his first for the club and placed him above Vinicius in the rankings as Madrid’s fourth youngest league scorer.

Levante response cut short

Levante managed to reduce the deficit before the interval. Ivan Romero’s cross deflected upwards, allowing Etta Eyong to head in at the far post and give the home crowd a moment of hope.

That momentum was swiftly extinguished in the second half. Kylian Mbappe took command with two rapid contributions that effectively ended the contest.

Mbappe decisive in second half

The French forward’s first came from the spot in the 64th minute, calmly lifting a chipped effort past goalkeeper Mathew Ryan.

Barely moments later, Arda Guler played him through, and Mbappe finished neatly to record his seventh league goal of the season. The quickfire double sealed the outcome, leaving Levante with little chance of mounting a recovery.
