Man United Interim Boss Carrick Praises Intensity and Passion After Victory Over Arsenal

Michael Carrick has praised the Manchester United squad and the fans for their intensity and support in the game against Arsenal in the Premier League, stating that it pushed them to victory.

Carrick, who stepped in a little over two weeks ago to fill the gaps for United until the end of the ongoing season following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, has started his interim tenure on a fantastic note.

Back-to-back victories against two of the Premier League’s top three teams Manchester City and Arsenal have put the former United midfielder and Middlesbrough manager in the running for the permanent position come summer 2026.

Against City, the Red Devils played a very attacking style of football that saw them dominating their city rivals from start to finish at Old Trafford. Against Arsenal, they did not back down either, matching the Gunners in both attack and defence, eventually edging them out in the 87th minute to win a fiercely-contested tie at the Emirates.

Fans of the club have been in ecstasy since the victory. Carrick is also on cloud nine thanks to how things have gone. The gaffer has praised the team and fans for helping to make sure that his tenure has gone on well so far, especially in the wake of the Arsenal victory, which is arguably their best performance of the 2025/26 football season.

“I think we understood how the game was going to go and the flow of it. I thought we started to take the ball and connections through the pitch, had that composure and a few moments gaining a bit of confidence as well.

“They make you defend the box really and it’s challenging at times, but I thought we had enough in the game to keep believing in the confidence and I always fancied us to score.

“Today, coming away we had to create our own energy between us, and the away fans in the corner were incredible. There’s that element, playing away from home and understanding the phases of the game really, how it’s going to develop and being patient, be disciplined at the right time. We took the ball well at times and played forward and really positive and got rewards from it.

Carrick also promised the fans that the team would get better. “It’s only been 10 days we know it’s not going to be perfect,” he said. “You can’t expect to come here and dominate the ball. We’re just starting off and it’s a good starting point but we need to start putting some layers on top, and we’ll try to do that in the coming weeks.”
