Lecce ends losing run with late draw against Fiorentina

ACF Fiorentina took the lead through Jack Harrison, who netted his first Serie A goal during the first half. The winger, on loan from Leeds, found the far corner with a precise left-footed effort after around 30 minutes.

It marked his first goal in 18 league appearances and appeared to set his side on course for a third straight victory in the competition. Fiorentina controlled that phase of the match and looked comfortable after going in front.

The breakthrough came at a time when Lecce had been struggling in front of goal, adding further pressure on the home side to respond.

Lecce respond after missed chances

US Lecce entered the game having gone 357 minutes without scoring, and early signs suggested their difficulties would continue. Attempts from Walid Cheddira and Lassana Coulibaly were both cleared off the line by Fiorentina defenders.

Despite those setbacks, Lecce continued to push forward in search of an equalizer. Their persistence eventually paid off in the second half.

With 71 minutes played, Tiago Gabriel connected with a corner delivered by Antonino Gallo, directing a header into the net to level the score.

Point crucial in relegation battle

The result ended a run of four consecutive defeats for Lecce and earned them a valuable point in their fight to avoid relegation. Sitting third from bottom, they moved to 28 points, matching the total of US Cremonese, the side directly above them.

With the bottom three teams set to drop, every point remains vital for Lecce as the season progresses. The draw keeps them within reach of safety as they aim to climb out of the danger zone.

For Fiorentina, the result extended their unbeaten run in the league to six matches. They remain in 15th place, eight points clear of Lecce, maintaining a buffer over the relegation positions.
