Karl Etta Eyong delivered a decisive injury-time finish as Levante UD defeated CA Osasuna 3-2 on Friday, strengthening the club’s hopes of staying in La Liga.
The Cameroon forward had scored six goals across his opening 10 league appearances earlier in the campaign, but he had not registered another strike since October. His return to the scoresheet came at a critical moment after entering the match in place of Pablo Martínez with around 15 minutes left while the game remained tied.
Eyong reacted first to a loose delivery inside the penalty area and launched himself forward to guide a diving header into the net, sparking celebrations around the stadium in Valencia.
Osasuna races ahead before Levante responds
The visitors appeared in control during the opening moments after Jeremy Toljan turned the ball into his own net less than three minutes after kickoff. Just eight minutes later, Ante Budimir arrived at the far post to slide home his 18th league goal of the season and double Osasuna’s advantage.
Despite falling behind 2-0 within only 11 minutes, Levante gradually recovered and pushed forward in search of a way back into the contest.
Víctor García sparks comeback before dramatic finish
Levante’s revival was led by Víctor García, whose two goals brought the home side level after the difficult beginning.
With the score locked at 2-2 entering the final stages, Eyong’s stoppage-time header completed the turnaround and secured an important triumph for Levante in its battle against relegation.
