Harry Kane marked his record-tying 125th England cap by scoring twice as the Three Lions cruised past Czechia 3-0 at Wembley.
The skipper equaled Peter Shilton’s record for the most England men’s appearances and celebrated the milestone in memorable fashion, lifting his international goal total to 91.
Thomas Tuchel’s team delivered a dominant display to essentially clinch their spot in the Nations League quarter-finals, sitting six points ahead of third-placed Croatia with two Group A3 fixtures left.
Harry Kane sets England appearance record
Kane’s newest achievement followed yet another extraordinary period in his international career. The Bayern Munich forward sparked the opening goal with a threatening cross that caused Vladimir Coufal to turn into his own net in the 27th minute.
England dictated the early phases, with Jude Bellingham and Kane among those leading the way as the hosts appeared much more composed than they had in the opening moments of their previous 2-0 win in Prague.
Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson each had attempts that did not test the goalkeeper before Kane’s cross brought the breakthrough. Coufal, rattled by Eberechi Eze, could only divert the ball into his own goal.
England takes control before half-time
England increased their lead in the 40th minute with another superb attacking sequence. Anderson delivered a brilliant pass down the right, Rogers supplied a first-time cross, and Kane finished from close range.
The hosts kept enjoying themselves, with Myles Lewis-Skelly producing a slick piece of skill soon after receiving a yellow card. The booking means he will be suspended for England’s clash with Croatia.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, brought back into Tuchel’s setup after 15 months out of international football, also posed a threat from long range. His dangerous 30-yard free-kick forced Czechia goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek to make a save, while Kane later hit the crossbar from 20 yards after being set up by Alexander-Arnold.
Kane completes his brace at Wembley
England scored a third from a corner shortly afterward. Lewis Hall sent in a high set piece, and Kane connected with a header that bounced off the ground before settling in the far corner.
Tuchel then started making substitutions, with the outcome effectively decided. Bellingham was among those taken off and got a massive ovation, along with a congratulatory pat on the back from the England manager.
Czechia had one of their rare opportunities to threaten when substitute Roman Macek sent a long-range shot just wide. Kane received a standing ovation when Dominic Calvert-Lewin came on for him in the 82nd minute, as England comfortably closed out a successful four-match autumn camp.
