Contract decision still to come
With his current agreement running until December, Scaloni admitted that discussions with the Argentine federation president will determine what comes next. He explained that he already has an idea of what he would like to do but intends to honour the remainder of his contract before making any final decision.
The Argentina coach also expressed gratitude for being entrusted with the national team, describing the opportunity as something he and his staff had always dreamed about. He said everyone involved had given everything possible until the final moments of the tournament and felt he deserved time to reflect before deciding his future.
Tears as uncertainty grows
Speaking through tears, Scaloni acknowledged that he was unsure whether he could continue in the role. He described managing Argentina as a dream and said neither he nor his coaching staff had imagined reaching such a position when they first began the journey.
He added that remaining in charge requires far more than simply extending a contract, explaining that rebuilding mentally and creating another group like the current one would be an enormous challenge. According to Scaloni, finding the energy to repeat that process is far from straightforward.

Before leaving, the Argentina manager admitted how deeply the defeat had affected him, describing the experience as extremely painful and offering another apology as he exited the room.
