Como Secures Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea

Como has finalized the acquisition of Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea, with the transfer fee reported at €30m plus performance-based bonuses. The center-back has put pen to paper on a deal running until June 2031, officially closing the door on his lengthy tenure at Stamford Bridge.

The move came after weeks of back-and-forth discussions, including a brief pause when Como pulled out to honor a mutual understanding with Inter. Once the Nerazzurri deemed the valuation excessive and withdrew their interest, Como stepped back in to finalize the agreement.

Trevoh Chalobah joins Como

Chalobah arrived in Italy on Wednesday to complete his medical checks, though the announcement was delayed until today. The 27-year-old now embarks on a fresh chapter, bidding farewell to the club where he rose through the ranks as a youth product.

This switch brings Chalobah to Serie A, offering Como a defender with proven top-tier experience. The negotiation process was lengthy, but both sides eventually found common ground to seal the deal.

Chalobah shared his enthusiasm about joining a project he views as ambitious and forward-thinking, while also noting the chance to reunite with Cesc Fabregas as a key factor in his decision.

“I’m delighted and proud to be part of Como,” Chalobah said on the club’s official site. “This is an ambitious, growing venture, and teaming up with coach Cesc Fabregas once more is something I cherish.”

Como and Fabregas welcome back Chalobah

Chalobah and Fabregas share history from their days together at Chelsea. The Como boss had kept tabs on his development, and his consistent performances eventually earned him a spot in England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Fabregas views the defender as a perfect fit for the club’s ambitions and considers his arrival a major boost to the roster. He also highlighted Chalobah’s drive to start anew and keep evolving as a player.

“Trevoh is a key signing for us, and he embodies the level of ambition we strive for at this club,” Fabregas remarked.

The Como manager went on to praise Chalobah’s physical presence, pace, and character in defense, as well as his composure on the ball to initiate attacks from the back. Fabregas also called him a natural leader who can elevate the squad’s standards.

Chelsea bids farewell to Chalobah

Having spent the majority of his career at Stamford Bridge, Chalobah now takes on a fresh challenge in Italy. His exit was marked by a heartfelt send-off from Chelsea’s official social media platforms.

The defender has vowed to commit fully to his new team, expressing his excitement to play in front of Como’s fans and forge a strong bond with them.

“I’ll give everything I have each day to create lasting memories together,” Chalobah stated.
