Chelsea set to make Liam Rosenior sack decision

Chelsea’s hierarchy may have already reached a decision to sack Liam Rosenior after the Blues’ heavy 3–0 defeat to Everton.

Chelsea had a prime opportunity to greatly strengthen the Blues’ push for UEFA Champions League qualification during their Premier League encounter with Everton on Saturday afternoon.

After Liverpool’s costly defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion earlier in the day, a victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium would have lifted the Blues into fourth place in the league table with only seven games remaining.

However, a poor performance from Chelsea resulted in the Blues suffering a 3–0 defeat, with Beto netting twice for Everton and Iliman Ndiaye adding the third.

After the game, many fans have urged Chelsea to dismiss manager Liam Rosenior just months after he succeeded Enzo Maresca at the start of the year.

However, reports indicate that this is not under discussion at Chelsea currently, with reports stating that the club’s board continues to fully support their head coach.

The report states that appointing Liam Rosenior manager”, who is contracted with Chelsea until 2032, was not part of the club’s initial plans for the season.

However, Enzo Maresca’s public and dramatic clash with Chelsea’s board in January forced their decision, leaving Liam Rosenior with the challenging task of trying to steer the Blues’ season back on course.

Given the circumstances of his unexpected appointment, it is understood that Chelsea’s board recognize the difficulties Liam Rosenior has faced in both implementing his tactical vision and managing a squad largely composed of another manager’s players.

Therefore, instead of reacting to four consecutive defeats, Chelsea will continue to back Liam Rosenior in the short term, with his dismissal before next season considered unlikely.

Instead, Chelsea is keen to assess how Liam Rosenior performs after a full pre-season to properly shape the team, with officials confident that he is the right long-term appointment.
