Chelsea delivered a strong statement in their pre-season preparations by earning a convincing win over AC Milan in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Blues dominated the match and showed notable improvement following back-to-back friendly losses to Tottenham and Juventus.
Joao Pedro broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time and then added another shortly after the interval. Moises Caicedo made it 3-0 just four minutes later as Chelsea took complete charge against a subdued Milan side led by former Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim.
Joao Pedro puts Chelsea in front
Chelsea controlled the early exchanges but struggled to convert their possession into goals. Joao Pedro missed two clear chances before finally finding the net in added time at the end of the first half.
The Brazilian forward rose highest to head an in-swinging corner from six yards past Milan goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani to give the Blues the lead.
Joao Pedro then extended Chelsea’s advantage moments after the restart. Pedro Neto delivered a curling cross to the far post from Chelsea’s first attack of the second half, and Joao Pedro forced the ball over the line past Torriani.
Chelsea increase their advantage over Milan
Chelsea scored a third goal just four minutes after Joao Pedro’s second. Romeo Lavia’s corner drifted towards the edge of the box, where captain Moises Caicedo connected with a powerful volley.
Caicedo directed his effort into the far corner with the outside of his right boot, giving Chelsea a comfortable three-goal cushion.
The Blues might have added more, with Geovany Quenda and Nicolas Jackson both striking the woodwork during the contest.
Chelsea look ahead to final warm-up fixtures
This win marks a clear step forward for Chelsea after their consecutive defeats to Tottenham and Juventus. Xabi Alonso’s team produced a commanding performance to see off Milan in Jakarta.
Chelsea will wrap up their pre-season tour on Sunday against Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta’zim, with kickoff scheduled for 13:00 BST. They will then head back to London for a friendly against Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign on 24 August, facing Fulham in their opening match.
