Bowen strike rescues point for West Ham in Nuno’s debut

Everton began strongly at Goodison Park and quickly moved in front when Michael Keane powered a header into the net from James Garner’s cross. The home team dominated much of the opening half, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish causing constant problems.

Dewsbury-Hall came closest to adding to the lead, narrowly missing the far post with a glanced header. Despite their superiority before the break, Everton could not build on Keane’s early finish and wasted opportunities to press home their advantage.

Bowen levels the contest

West Ham struck back just after the hour mark when Jarrod Bowen found space inside the area. His fierce left-footed attempt took a deflection off Keane before flying past Jordan Pickford.

That goal shifted momentum in favor of the visitors, who pressed higher and looked more confident going forward. The equalizer lifted Nuno Espirito Santo’s players, and they finished the match the stronger of the two sides.

Missed chances for Moyes’ men

Everton will feel frustrated not to have claimed victory, with David Moyes’ side recording 12 shots, six on target. However, most efforts failed to seriously trouble goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

Grealish was heavily involved, drawing five fouls in threatening areas and regularly linking up play. Although Everton showed neat combination work, they lacked a clinical finish in front of goal. Their run without a league win now extends to three matches.

Encouragement for Nuno’s start

West Ham remain second from bottom despite the point, but the display offered reasons for optimism. Crysencio Summerville impressed with his direct runs from the left flank, stretching Everton’s defense.

Young full-back El Hadji Malick Diouf also stood out, consistently troubling Jake O’Brien and delivering the cross that set up Bowen’s equalizer. Their contributions gave the visitors an extra edge in the final stages.

The draw ended a poor spell of results for the London side, marking their first league points since late August. Nuno will hope this battling display signals a more positive direction for his new team.
