Aston Villa have completed the signing of Joao Gomes from Wolves in a deal worth £38m, making the Brazil international their second central midfield arrival in four days.
The midfielder joins for an initial fee of £34m, with a further £4m available through add-ons, after spending three years at Molineux and making 130 appearances for Wolves.

Villa’s latest move comes shortly after the club secured a record-breaking agreement worth more than £50m for Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi.
The Premier League side had beaten Newcastle to the Switzerland international, adding another option in midfield before bringing Gomes to Villa Park.

Atletico Madrid had also shown interest in Gomes, but the 25-year-old decided to leave Wolves’ training camp in Portugal on Thursday.
He travelled for a medical and to complete the final steps of his transfer to Aston Villa.

Gomes leaves Wolves after three seasons with the club, during which he made 130 appearances before sealing his move away from Molineux.
