Alexander Isak ruled out after surgery on lower-leg injury

Liverpool announced that Alexander Isak has undergone an operation following damage to his left leg, confirming the procedure was completed without complications.

The club stopped short of giving a precise return date, though the Sweden international is anticipated to miss competitive action for several months.

In an official update, Liverpool explained the problem involved the ankle area and included a break to the fibula.

Incident at Tottenham and reaction to the challenge

Isak found the net after coming on as a substitute during the weekend match against Tottenham but was hurt immediately after striking the ball.

The injury occurred following a defensive action from Micky van de Ven, and Isak was unable to carry on, leaving the field with assistance while clearly struggling.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher described the setback as a major loss for Liverpool, noting the squad’s limited attacking options and calling the incident unfortunate rather than reckless.

A difficult spell for the record signing

The 26-year-old arrived at Anfield in the summer for a Premier League record fee of £125m, yet his first months with the club have been disrupted by fitness issues.

Prior to the move, he missed Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia with what was described as a minor thigh problem, later training away from the squad before completing his transfer on deadline day.

Since joining Liverpool, Isak has made 16 appearances and scored three times, including goals against Southampton, West Ham, and Tottenham, but has struggled to build consistent momentum.
