NFL Week 8 injury report with latest updates on key stars

The NFL Week 8 injury report brings encouraging news for the Baltimore Ravens, with Lamar Jackson returning to full practice after missing three consecutive games with an ankle injury. The Detroit Lions have also taken a step forward, opening a practice window for All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph as he works toward a return.

However, several teams are dealing with significant injury concerns ahead of their upcoming games. Matthew Golden, Ja’Marr Chase, Saquon Barkley, and a host of other notable players are among those whose availability remains uncertain or whose teams are managing their workloads.

Lamar Jackson injury update and Packers injury report

Jackson was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice for the first time since suffering his ankle injury. His return to full training offers a positive development for Baltimore ahead of its matchup with Buffalo, although several teammates also appeared on the Ravens’ injury report.

Defensive linemen Calais Campbell, safety Kyle Hamilton, safety Jaylinn Hawkins, guard Olaivavega Ioane, and linebacker Roquan Smith did not practice. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley and guard John Simpson were limited participants.

Green Bay and Carolina face their Thursday night meeting with extensive injury concerns. The Panthers ruled out linebacker Jaelan Phillips, guard Torricelli Simpkins III, cornerback Akayleb Evans, and guard Damien Lewis, while defensive tackle Bobby Brown III was listed as questionable.

The Packers will be without linebacker Zaire Franklin, center Sean Rhyan, and offensive lineman Travis Glover. Green Bay is expected to start third-string center John Williams after injuries to Rhyan and Jacob Monk left the team short of options at the position. Kevin Zeitler could also make his Packers debut.

Wide receiver Matthew Golden, who has recorded 512 receiving yards, is questionable with shoulder and foot issues. After missing practice on Monday and Tuesday, he took part in Wednesday’s walkthrough on a limited basis.

Kerby Joseph returns and Detroit Lions injury concerns

Detroit opened Kerby Joseph’s 21-day practice window on Wednesday, allowing the All-Pro safety to return to the field for the first time this season. He participated on a limited basis after missing the final 11 games of the 2025 campaign because of a degenerative knee condition.

The Lions still have a lengthy list of players who did not practice on Wednesday. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams were among those listed, alongside edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, defensive tackle Alim McNeill, left tackle Penei Sewell, and edge rusher DJ Wonnum.

Minnesota, meanwhile, reported only three players with injury concerns. Running back Aaron Jones and guard Joe Huber did not practice, while offensive tackle Brian O’Neill was limited.

Elsewhere in the NFC North, the Chicago-less Green Bay injury situation remains particularly demanding, with multiple offensive line absences and Golden’s status still unresolved ahead of the Panthers game.

Ja’Marr Chase, Saquon Barkley, and other NFL injury updates

The Cincinnati Bengals had three players miss Wednesday’s practice: wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, safety Kyle Dugger, and defensive tackle Jonathan Allen. Chase received a veteran rest day and was also listed with an ankle issue. Safety Jordan Battle and linebacker Joe Giles-Harris were limited.

Philadelphia has several significant concerns ahead of its meeting with Washington. Running back Saquon Barkley was among six Eagles who did not practice, with hamstring and back issues listed. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith also missed practice with a hamstring problem, while linebacker Jihaad Campbell, cornerback Jonathan Jones, wide receiver Britian Covey, and wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks were also absent.

Washington had three non-participants: wide receiver Stefon Diggs, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, and tight end John Bates. Defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton was limited as he continued working through his 21-day practice window in an attempt to return from injured reserve.

The Arizona Cardinals also reported nine players who did not practice, including running back Tyler Allgeier, safety Budda Baker, outside linebacker Zaven Collins, and defensive linemen Walter Nolen III. Quarterback Carson Beck, running back Jeremiyah Love and wide receiver Michael Wilson were among those limited.

Dallas held a walkthrough, with wide receiver KaVontae Turpin and linebacker Dee Winters the only players listed as non-participants. Defensive back Caleb Downs, wide receiver George Pickens, and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams were estimated to be limited.

The New York Jets had six players miss practice, including edge rusher David Bailey, linebacker Demario Davis, and offensive lineman Max Mitchell.
