Lecce secured a crucial 2-1 triumph over Pisa, a result that officially relegated the Tuscan side to the second tier.
Pisa, who had only returned from Serie B the previous year, endured a difficult campaign in Serie A, managing just two victories across 35 matches.
The outcome also confirmed the drop for Verona. Despite sitting one point above Pisa with 19, they can no longer catch Lecce, who moved up to 32 points and sits just outside the bottom three.
Turnaround secures survival boost for Lecce
Pisa initially took the lead early in the second half when Lameck Banda found the net in the 52nd minute.
The advantage was short-lived, as Mehdi Léris responded for the home side just four minutes later to level the score.
The decisive moment came in the 65th minute when Walid Cheddira struck what proved to be the winning goal for Lecce. The result lifted them four points clear of the relegation zone with three fixtures remaining.
Venezia returns to top flight
Elsewhere, Venezia secured promotion after earning the point they required in a 2-2 draw with Spezia.
The side led by Giovanni Stroppa sits at the top of the Serie B standings, holding a one-point advantage over Frosinone.
Frosinone still has the opportunity to join Venezia in the top division, needing a win or draw against Mantova in their final match next Friday.
