Cowboys secure Arlington stadium stay until 2055

The Dallas Cowboys are set to remain in Arlington for decades longer after officials move to extend their agreement at AT&T Stadium through 2055.

According to Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, the city is finalizing a new deal that pushes the franchise’s lease beyond its original expiration date of 2039. The updated agreement adds 16 extra years to the previous timeline.

Ross described the extension as a significant development for the surrounding entertainment area, noting that it ensures the continued long-term presence of the Cowboys in the city and wider Tarrant County region.

Stadium legacy and major events

Even after many years of use, AT&T Stadium continues to be recognized as one of the NFL’s most prominent venues. It has previously hosted a wide range of major sporting occasions, including a Super Bowl in 2011, NBA All-Star Weekend in 2010, the NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2014, and a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2015.

The venue also became the permanent home of the Cotton Bowl in 2010, further strengthening its role in American sports scheduling and large-scale event hosting.

Renovation investment and World Cup role

The Cowboys have committed $295 million toward stadium renovations ahead of upcoming international tournament preparations.

As part of those plans, AT&T Stadium is scheduled to host nine matches during this summer’s FIFA World Cup, making it the busiest venue in the competition in terms of match count.
