Bayern Munich star and England Three Lions captain Harry Kane has effectively dismissed all reports linking him with a move away from the Allianz Arena to the Spotify Camp Nou to don the FC Barcelona colours.
Kane’s future with the German giants has been a big subject of debate in the football transfer world since the 2024/25 season. There have been revived links to Manchester United, as well as a touted return to Tottenham Hotspur, where he made his name, and even to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, with the latter being the most touted destination.
Barcelona sources themselves have also come out to state that the striker is on their radar, among others, as they work towards securing a replacement for the ageing Robert Lewandowski. The rumours have also been bolstered in the past by German sources who have suggested that Bayern could let the Englishman go to free up salary space if any bid in excess of £60 million is submitted for his signature.
Kane has now come out to shut all those rumours down. The Englishman emphatically claims that he has heard nothing about any links or discussions about a move to Barcelona and that Bayern Munich remains his focus for the foreseeable future.
The striker told the Mirror: “I haven’t heard anything about it. My father and brother handle everything, but they haven’t said anything to me.
“As I’ve already said, I’m very happy here at Bayern. I’m focused on this season and my time at Bayern. I take it as a compliment.”
Since his arrival in Germany, Kane has contributed a remarkable 128 goals and 31 assists from 132 appearances in all competitions. Those goals earned him a club trophy, which happened to be the first of his storied career thanks to an unlucky run with Spurs despite his exploits in North London.
Kane has now turned his attention to the UEFA Champions League and the Summer 2026 FIFA World Cup. He is likely to make a decision after both tournaments, with his focus solely on securing success in one or both of them.
Meanwhile, Bayern will be sweating about Kane’s future.
The Englishman’s contract is up at the end of the 2025/26 season, which means they could lose a key player for free if they do not tie him down to a new contract. Their focus, per reports, is that they are looking to sit down with him to agree on a new contract before the end of the season so that they can claim a substantial transfer fee for him should he choose to go elsewhere after 2025/26 is up.
