Betis are Atlético’s rivals for Fabio Silva

Atlético Madrid are preparing for a significant summer rebuild, with several positions in Diego Simeone’s squad under review. The attacking department is among the priorities, as uncertainty continues to surround key figures.

Antoine Griezmann has been strongly linked with a move to Major League Soccer, and at this stage a transfer to Orlando City is widely expected. At the same time, Alexander Sorloth has attracted interest from several clubs, raising the possibility that Atlético could look to bring in two new forwards ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Should both departures materialise, the Madrid side would be left needing to reshape their frontline significantly, making the upcoming window crucial to their long-term planning.

Fabio Silva emerges as a renewed option

Among the names being considered is Fabio Silva. The Portuguese striker was previously on Atlético’s radar during his loan spell with Las Palmas, where he impressed despite the team’s struggles.

Instead of remaining in Spain, Silva completed a move to Borussia Dortmund last year. However, his spell in Germany has proven difficult, opening the door to a potential return to Spanish football.

Reports indicate that Atlético are once again monitoring his situation as they evaluate options for the summer market.

Real Betis competition and financial edge

Real Betis are also maintaining their interest in Silva, having failed to secure his services during the January window. The Andalusian club remain attentive to his availability as they consider strengthening their own attacking ranks.

Silva’s appeal largely stems from his performances at Las Palmas, where he registered 10 goals in 25 appearances for a side that ultimately suffered relegation. Both Atlético and Betis believe he could further develop within a stronger squad.

While Atlético may be in a better position to satisfy Dortmund’s asking price due to greater financial resources, sporting director Mateu Alemany is understood to be reviewing multiple targets as the club continues preparations for the off-season overhaul.
